BUTTERMAKER'S HOUSE ARTIST RESIDENCY presents STUART McKAY! As part of our Canada Day Celebrations July 1st, Stuart McKay will share a poetry reading on the Markerville Creamery courtyard stage at 3:00 PM, including “Canada” by Stephan G. Stephansson, and one of his own original poems.
As well, there's a Mini Market, BBQ Lunch, Canada Day Cake, and a free music concert. It all starts at 10 am!
~~ Stuart McKay is a Calgary/Edmonton based poet. His fourth book of poetry, “the commune of our waking” was published in 2024 by AOS Publishing of Montreal. "Community involvement is a major concern of my artistic practice. To that end, I serve on the Board of Directors for the League of Canadian poets, and serve on the poetry editorial collective of filling station. As well, I am a writer on the margins. Artists on the Avenue Art Show & Sale is back on Sunday, June 28th. We’re open 10 am at Fensala Hall, 24 Main Avenue, Markerville, inside and out of the rain! 16 artists are on site with their latest work for you to check out.
We also have three local artists holding Studio Shows in Markerville and area. Marie’s Grass Roots Art Studio is at 36372 Range Road 15, just 4 minutes SE of the hamlet.
